Virtual fencing for cattle
Virtual fencingfor cattle in Spain.
Solar-charged GPS neckbands and an audio-first welfare protocol, on one platform. Built by Gallagher, in livestock since 1938.
In Spain
Spanish beef is dominated by extensive systems: dehesa across Extremadura and Andalusia, where cattle graze wooded rangeland under holm oak, and mountain grazing in Castilla y León, Asturias, Cantabria and the Pyrenees. Cows are run in large groups over large areas, much of it leased or held in common. eShepherd is built for that scale of country, where fencing every boundary is not realistic.
Why eShepherd
Why eShepherd works in Spain
- Dehesa has no straight lines in it. Set a grazing boundary around the holm oaks without clearing and then maintaining a fence line through the trees.
- Dehesa herds run to hundreds of cows over thousands of hectares, so labour saved on fence work is the biggest line. The ROI calculator models it.
- Cattle moved between winter dehesa and summer mountain pasture can be held on the new ground the day they arrive, before any fencing goes up.
- Much extensive grazing in Spain is leased or communal. Graze it without putting in infrastructure you cannot recover when the term ends.
- Gallagher works through established distribution partners in Spain, backed by 88 years building livestock fencing, weighing and EID.
Pricing
What does eShepherd cost in Spain?
Cost depends on your herd size, your connectivity setup and your terrain, so rather than a one-size price we build you an exact figure, free and no-obligation. You own the neckbands outright (no per-head lease), with a small monthly connectivity charge.
Connectivity
Carrier coverage in Spain
eShepherd cellular roams across Movistar, Orange and Vodafone, and Spain carries both LTE-M and NB-IoT, so low-band IoT reaches deeper into interior grazing country than the bands a phone uses. Coverage holds across the dehesa of Extremadura and Andalusia and the plains of Castilla y León. It thins in the Sierra Morena, remoter rural Extremadura and the high Pyrenean valleys, where LoRa base stations cover the herd instead.
