Virtual fencing for cattle

In Germany
German beef comes off a mixed base: around 0.7 million suckler cows concentrated in the grassland counties, plus finishing cattle out of the dairy herd. Herd size splits sharply, near fifty suckler cows on a Brandenburg or Mecklenburg holding against under ten in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. eShepherd works at both ends, because the boundary is drawn on a map rather than built out of posts and wire.
Why eShepherd
Why eShepherd works in Germany
- Landscape-conservation grazing on protected grassland follows a boundary that shifts with the season. Redraw the cell instead of moving a fence to match it.
- Bavarian and Baden-Württemberg herds are small and their parcels are scattered. Manage each block from the phone rather than driving between them to shift wire.
- In Brandenburg and Mecklenburg the blocks are large and far apart, so one change on the map replaces a long drive and most of a day on fence work.
- Cattle summered on Alpine Almen can be held off steep or wet ground without cutting and then maintaining a fence line up the slope.
- Gallagher has an in-market team in Germany and a European base in Groningen, backed by 88 years in livestock. Talk to them.
Pricing
What does eShepherd cost in Germany?
Cost depends on your herd size, your connectivity setup and your terrain, so rather than a one-size price we build you an exact figure, free and no-obligation. You own the neckbands outright (no per-head lease), with a small monthly connectivity charge.
Connectivity
Carrier coverage in Germany
eShepherd cellular runs on the German Cat-M1 / NB-IoT bands, roaming across Telekom, Vodafone and O2, which between them carry both LTE-M and NB-IoT, so the large majority of German grassland sits on cellular. Where signal drops, typically in Eifel and Black Forest valleys, parts of the Bavarian Forest and the Alpine foothills, LoRa base stations bridge the gap.
